In “What I Wish I’d Known as a Freshman…,” participants gain valuable insights into their studies, the campus, and life in Ilmenau. Whether it’s creating a class schedule, time-management techniques, gyms in Ilmenau, or the best döner in town—the most important questions are answered here.

Together with the freshmen, we're producing a TV show in ML2. This gives the freshmen a chance to try their hand at both in front of and behind the camera and to work as a team to put something together.

During the workshop, you’ll produce your own radio show. You can check out our different departments; whether you’d rather be on the mic, plan the show behind the scenes, handle the technical side, or manage social media—every department is looking forward to your help! You can do all that and much more with us!

Have you always wanted to know how a few components can be turned into a working circuit? Or do you just feel like building something with your own hands during your first week at college? Then come on by! On Workshop Day, we’ll show you how soldering works. You don’t need any prior experience—just curiosity—but of course, we’ve got something for the pros, too.

We'll work with you to organize a tournament featuring several esports titles, and then let you play out the tournament using our esports setups. Of course, there will be small prizes as well.

After icebreaker games and a brief warm-up, we use group games to introduce participants to various fundamentals and forms of theater. These include exercises in attention, facial expressions, gestures, voice, improvisation, pantomime, character interpretation, and scene creation.

Participants first choose a song from a list, which they then learn and sing together.

How can I balance college, work, and my personal life, and how can being active in a club help me do that? After we’ve talked about this, we’ll have a relaxed barbecue at our office and wind down the day.

Here you'll discover different ways to open a beer and, in the process, get a little closer to understanding the meaning of life.

Planned workshop content:
– Identifying and analyzing defects in specially prepared or “original” bicycles
– Fixing defects under guidance
– Maintenance tips and tricks: How do I adjust the brakes properly? How do I adjust the derailleur? How do I true a wheel? How do I recognize a worn-out drivetrain?…
– Deep Dive into Bicycle Technology: How is a suspension fork constructed? What does a gear hub look like on the inside, and how does it work? …
– Demonstration: How easy is it to pick common bicycle locks?

Throughout the workshop, we’ll flexibly tailor the content to the interests and preferences of the participants.

Ever heard of Formula Student? No? Then it’s about time!

With us, you can get involved: solder electrical components, create social media content as part of the organizing team, and take a look behind the scenes on a workshop tour. You’ll also learn what goes into the Formula Student competition.

Stop by, give it a try, and get to know our other departments too!

Want to try your hand at being behind the bar?
At our cocktail workshop, you’ll learn the basics of mixology—and, of course, get to grab a shaker yourself!

You’ll receive the recipes you need, learn basic bar techniques, and mix your own cocktails. We’ll also offer a small tasting from our bar selection.

To wrap things up, you’ll work together to create your very own signature cocktail!
And the best part: You won’t just get to try your signature cocktails during the workshop. Your creations will be featured as a special at our bar for a month afterward.

To ensure there’s something for everyone, we’re offering two groups:
Cocktails—for anyone who enjoys mixing with alcohol
Mocktails—for anyone who’d like to stay alcohol-free
